Electronic ignition systems are now standard fitment on most new motorcycles. This is because they offer better starting, smoother running, improved fuel economy, lower emissions, greater power output and vastly improved reliability. All older motorcycles will suffer from "fragile" electrics. Components will have deteriorated with age, due to the effects of dampness, heat and vibration. Original parts (if available) often cost a small fortune to replace and many pattern parts, whilst cheaper, are of inferior quality. Boyer Bransden ignition systems have been in continuous production for over 35 years. They were originally designed for and fitted to Grand Prix racing motorcycles. They are still the ignition system of choice for many modern day racers, including ourselves at Gremlin Racetech. These ignition systems replace the standard contact-breaker points, condensors, mechanical advance/retard unit and ignition control box, but can still utilise the standard coils if you so wish. They are fully encapsulated as protection against the effects of moisture and vibration and are guaranteed for five years against defects. They come with complete and simple fitting instructions and all the necessary connectors as shown in the picture. The Micro-digital ignition system is the next generation, following on from the original MkIII systems. It contains a microprocessor which analyses engine speed, ignition coil energy, engine load and resistance at the sparkplug, making more than 1 million adjustment decisions per second. The technology involved is equal to the systems fitted to many modern superbikes. Please note that we can supply all components for these ignition kits seperately, as spares. See Also |
