2005 saw the first running of the Trans-Pacific Challenge Races - Australia vs NZ vs UK, at Philip Island GP Circuit, Australia. Gremlin rode for Team UK. Early practice was quite promising, but the the big Suzuki hit trouble. At full revs in top gear, approaching Turn One, the clutch decided to let-go. The resulting shrapnel cut the oil pump clean in half, wrecked the crank cases and took the middle out of the crank. Game over.

The kindly Glynn Williams, he of Top Banana Racing fame, came to the rescue. He loaned his spare 1170 Kawasaki / Harris Magnum to Gremlin. This gratitude was promptly repaid by Gremlin throwing the Harris into the gravel trap at Siberia Corner. This picture was taken in the next race - hence the lack of fairing, which had been demolished.
